Refugees Affected and Hosting Areas (RAHA) Programme in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has imparted training to 120 persons in different skills under the European Union-funded programme. Under the programme, unemployed youth, including women, were selected for different training from the target union councils in districts Nowshera, district Peshawar and Haripur.
Skill Development and Income Generation trainings for the year 2011-12 had been launched on November 26 with an aim to create dignified employment opportunities for men and women in the target union councils. Under the programme, six trainings on mobile repairing, computer and beautician's skills, keeping in view the community needs, were being imparted to turn labourers into skilled workers to facilitate them to earn livelihood for themselves and their households in a dignified manner.
A total of 120 students, including 80 female and 40 male, completed their training successfully in computer, mobile repairing and beautician on December 28, 2011. Kits and certificates were awarded after completion of the training. It is pertinent to mention here that under the skill development initiative, a total of 593 persons, including 369 females and 224 males, have already been trained in different skills in 2010-11.
