Report on 45 Months Performance of The Federal Cabinet/Committees

The present elected government, headed by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, has completed forty five (45) months in office, which is unprecedented in the history of the country. At the same time, the Prime Minister also has the unique honour to be the first elected Prime Minister to be holding the 100th meeting of the Federal Cabinet.
2 During the tenure of the present government, more than 1100 decisions have been taken in Cabinet meetings with a mechanism of their due implementation through a system of regular monitoring and a built-in system of accountability of the Ministries. Consequently, more than 80% of the Cabinet decisions have been implemented in their true letter and spirit. Similarly, Economic Co-ordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) and Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC), mandated by the Cabinet to oversee the economic matters and security issues respectively, have also been proactive in their assigned role towards the challenges facing the country. The ECC took more than 650 decisions of which more than 80% have been implemented.
3 The present government has been cognisant of long standing issues pertaining to the autonomy of the provinces, as envisaged in the true spirit of the 1973 Constitution, and has taken major decisions, which include passage of 18th and 19th constitutional amendments, leading to the abolition of Concurrent Legislative List, 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) Award thereby enhancing the share of the provinces in the national financial resources, empowerment of the people of Gilgit Baltistan, removing the sense of deprivation of the people of Balochistan through measures under Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan and grant of democratic rights to the people of Federally Administrative Tribal Areas (FATA).

4 The policy of the present elected government has always been to perform its functions in a democratic manner as per the Constitution of Pakistan. It has been under this policy that all decisions taken by the Cabinet and its Committees reflect the input of all concerned stakeholders. The decision making process has been based on institutional support as laid down in the Constitution of Pakistan and further elaborated in the Rules of Business.
