Ensuring modern facilities: billions of rupees being provided to hospitals
Provincial Secretary Health Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan said that Punjab Government is providing funds worth billions to its hospitals in order to ensure modern medical facilities for masses anyway.
He said that Post Graduate Medical Institute is such an asset of Punjab Government which is also being utilised by the patients and medical students of other provinces and Chief Minister Punjab is committed to develop this Institute into state of the art and a role model organisation.
Secretary Health expressed these views at Lahore General Hospital. The meeting was also attended by Special Secretary Health Mohammad Daud, Additional Secretaries, Principal PGMI and LGH Professor Dr Tariq Salah-ud-Din, MS Dr Zafar Ikram, senior professors, administrative doctors and other officers.
Jehanzeb Khan said that Government is determined to upgrade PGMI using all available recourses.
He appreciated the decision to keep hospital OPD open till 8.00pm to facilitate the masses and said that the Government would provide funds for this initiative and the facility would be further extended to other hospitals of the province.
He directed the hospital administration to ensure the presence of registrars in emergency and other departments so that patients' problems could be lessened.
