Businessmen and industrials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have sought proper land route facility to carry export via Afghanistan to Central Asian Republic (CAR) States to enhance current export volume of the province and demanded issuance of Trading Housing license along warehouse facility at Export Processing Zone in Risalpur, District Nowshera.
The proposals were put forward to EPZ Chairman, Tariq Hassan during his visit to Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), here on Saturday. SCCI president, Afan Aziz, gave a comprehensive presentation regarding the export barriers, further activeness of EPZ and other obstacles relating to export facing by the business community in the province. He informed that the export volume is negligible, saying a total of 30 million export of country, the province has meagre share. He called for allowing to freight to export via land route to CAR states.
Aziz said the land route facility would be helpful to increase the current volume of export. He added that we want industrial growth and new opportunities zones in order to boost up job extensive sectors in the province. He demanded for establishment of warehouse at EPZ and issuance of trading house license to business community of the province.
The businessmen and industrials have demanded for allowing equal basis internal and external exports along with removing condition of investment in the foreign currency to enhance investment. Earlier, EPZ chairman, Mohammad Tariq Hassan called upon the business community to come forward and invest at EPZ at Risalpur, District Nowshera. He informed the government had provided one-window facility for businessmen and industrials at the EPZ.
He assured the business community that the issue of issue of trading via land route to Afghanistan and CAR states will take up with the federal government. He said the authority's basic objective is to enhance export of the country, and improve quality and standard of local manufacturing products.
Tariq informed that the EPZ had established different sections of research, development and marketing. He acknowledged that the terrorism had affected the industrial sector in the country, whereas the prevailing power crisis further turned down current growth, because investment was not promising in the country.
After taking charge of Chairman EPZ, he told that they had taken all issues and problems with Prime Minister and Ministry concerned. The One-window operation is being carried out successfully in economic hub of Karachi. Similarly, he said that there was also established EPZ in Risalpur, District Nowshera, have planned to set up such units other areas.
He informed that there will not problems relating to Energy and Gas in EPZ, whereas the arrangements have been made about the security and infrastructure as well, after which no need to deal with different national institutes and agencies. At the conclusion of the briefing, SCCI president, Afan Aziz presented a souvenir to Chairman Export Processing Zone (EPZ), Mohammad Tariq Hassan. SCCI president, Afan Aziz, prominent businessmen and industrialists, including Zahidullah Shinwari, Tufail Gowara, Haji Mohammad Asif, and others members of business community were present on the occasion.
