Another high level meeting was held Saturday at the Central Police Office to review the security plans for Muharramul Harram here and elsewhere in the province. The IGP directed the police to check all new occupants of the rented houses, guesthouses and hotels in their respective police jurisdiction with the assistance of their intelligence network.
He also directed the police to be attentive to any tipoff on suspicious movement of likely criminals and do not ignore any call in this regard, which could sometimes lead to important clues in thwarting any act of terrorism.
Moreover, the routes of the processions may also be thoroughly monitored and checked again and again to ensure safety of people during the processions to be taken along the traditional routes. He said that police should also keep liaison with the volunteers posted by the administrators of respective organisations at the entry points and all the SSPs should ensure their presence in the respective areas instead of sitting in their offices.
It was also decided in the meeting that ulema will be given full security besides mosques and imambargahs in sensitive areas. The 'majalis' of women should also be given special security and no lapse in this regard would be tolerated.
