Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) on Saturday claimed to have arrested 35 suspects in separate raids at various parts of the city. According to police sources, heavy contingent of police and rangers cordoned off Dawood regency and its other surroundings situated near Sohrab Goth and kicked off door-to-door search.
They said the LEAs detained 25 suspects and recovered huge cache of weapons from them during search operation. They said the suspects were transported to unknown place for further interrogation. Similarly, the LEAs have conducted raid at Landhi area where some 10 more suspects were arrested with weapons.
Sources said that at least 35 suspects including two target killers and drug peddlers were detained in both raids besides huge cache of weapons and drugs were also taken into custody. They said the identity of the detained suspects was yet to be disclosed but all of them were shifted to unknown place for interrogation.
Meanwhile, Maripur police also claimed to have arrested contract killer on a tipoff at Hawks bay road. The detained suspect was identified as Sajid and the police had also recovered a TT pistol from his possession. Police said the suspect during initial course of investigation confessed to have murdered five persons in separate assaults and involved in over 100 robbery cases. Further investigation was in progress.
