Major Sharif Sabir (Retd) convicted

Accountability Court No IV Rawalpindi Thursday convicted Major Muhammad Sharif Sabir (Retd), former General Secretary, Employees Co-operative Housing Society, Ministry of Interior, Islamabad on the charges of embezzlement in MIECHS funds. The court awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment and also fined him Rs 20.20 million. In case of default, the convict will have to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of two years.
The reference was filed in Accountability Court No 4 Rawalpindi and the charge was framed on 20.04.2007. It took approximately five years to conclude the reference. On the conclusion of the trial, the accused was found guilty of the said offence and was convicted.
