CNG supply has been suspended from Monday for three days in Multan region under the gas load management plan of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources. Transporters are fleecing the commuters by charging 20 percent extra fare during the closure of CNG stations.
Scuffle was reported at different bus terminals in Southern Punjab. They said that there was no mechanism to check the fare being extorted by the transporters. Regional Transport Authority is merely a "Monthly" receiving authority. Transporters increased the fare when diesel prices were increased pretending that they were using High Speed Diesel and now they are extorting 50 percent more fare than fixed by the Punjab Government. CNG supply has been stopped from Monday morning at 6.00 am and will be restored on Thursday morning at 6.00 am for the customers in the cities/towns of Multan region.
