Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) have so far issued around 78,000 CNICs in rain-hit areas to help expedite the process of Pakistan Cards. The Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) are being issued to flood-affected persons living in remote areas free of charge with the objective that they could get compensation through Pakistan Cards at the earliest.
A Nadra official told APP on Wednesday that the affected people are facilitated in co-ordination with the public representatives and district administrators. He said the MRVs are also being deployed to facilitate eunuchs for their registration in remote areas in addition to registration centres.
The authority has been issuing CNICs to eunuchs as per instructions of the Supreme Court. All registered eunuchs will be eligible to cast vote as citizens of Pakistan in general election and their names are added in electoral rolls. Meanwhile, the official said the process of issuing Pakistan Cards is in progress as around 598,600 such cards have been issued to flood affected families in Sindh and added that 47 distribution centres of Nadra are operational in six districts ie Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar and Sanghar.
He said around 15 centres are addressing the complaints from genuine beneficiaries who were unable to get registration for Pakistan Cards through which a cash tab of Rs 20,000 in two equal instalments is given to each affected family as compensation.
