Dadu to have prison for women soon

Published Updated

The district of Dadu will have a prison for women soon, said Sindh Minister for Law Ayaz Soomro who has also been given the additional portfolio of Minister Prisons as well. Talking to media persons at his office here on Tuesday, he said presently the women prisoners were being moved to the jails in either Hyderabad or Larkana, but an additional jail in Dadu will facilitate the prisoners as the jails were already overcrowded including those in Karachi, Larkana, Sukkur and Hyderabad.
The Minister said that plans had also been chalked out to install electronic security devices including mobile phone jammers and CCTV cameras in the jails to curb the communication by the prisoners from the outside world and their movement and activities through CCTVs. Moreover, Soomro said that salaries and other perks of the prison employees would also be increased to the level of that availed by the Motorway Police.
