'DHA water problem to be resolved soon'

A reinvigorated strategy has given renewed impetus to the fast infrastructure development of phase-VIII, which constitutes 45 percent of the entire DHA here. This was stated by Commander 5 Corps, Lieutenant General Zahir-ul-Islam, who is also the President Executive Board DHA at Defence Resident Society (DRS), while speaking at the 21st anniversary function last evening at which he was the chief guest.
Lieutenant General Zahir-ul-Islam said that Sectors A and B have already been opened for construction while a dynamic approach is being adopted to simultaneously start development of the remaining three sectors. He said that the development works in other phases was also being given top priority. Commenting on water scarcity, he said efforts were being made to proactively resolve the problem. "In this connection, the new water connection from Kalapul at Korangi Road for Phase-I and II which is costing about Rs five million is almost in its completion stage."
Station Commander Karachi and President CBC, Brigadier Anis Ahmed said that the DHA was striving to provide solutions to basic civic problems such as water, gas, roads, electricity, sanitation, law and order. He said DHA has positively contributed towards making it an elite residential estate of the country. He thanked the corps commander for his guidance and help in this respect.
President DRS, Zafar Iqbal, in his vote of thanks said the DRS is working in complete harmony with DHA and CBC. He thanked DHA for their co-operation in this respect. The DRS managing committee members and a large number of residents attended the meeting.-PR
