I am pleased that Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) are holding the ceremony of Best Corporate and Sustainability Report Awards 2010. These awards are playing a vital role in adoption of best corporate practices and promotion of transparency & accountability in Pakistan.
Over the past few years, the Best Corporate Report Awards have played a key role in raising the standards of financial and corporate reporting which has eventually led to the strengthening of Good Governance Practices in the corporate sector of Pakistan. The Awards have also generated a healthy competition among the companies to produce high-quality annual reports.
This process has significantly enhanced the level of reliance on the information disclosed in the Annual Reports whereby the stakeholders get an in-depth knowledge on the operations and better understanding of the financial results and future outlook of their companies. I fully compliment the role of ICAP and ICMAP towards the accounting profession & society and extend my heartiest congratulations to the organisers of the of Best Corporate and Sustainability Report Awards 2010.
