Interior Minister Rehman Malik has ruled out any possibility of political change in the country, and called for forging unity in accordance with teachings of the Poet of the East, Dr Allama Mohammed Iqbal. He said this while talking to reporters after visiting Mazar-e-Iqbal where he laid floral wreath and also offered 'fateha' for great philosopher on Wednesday.
He called upon all political parties to work unitedly for betterment of the country. "State institutions should not be criticised, as it is obligatory upon everybody to respect public mandate as well as constitutional offices," he said, adding: "Public had given mandate to the PPP-led government and the opposition parties should wait for the next elections." He said that provincial chief ministers should also respect the office of president. However, he said, if someone has complaints that should be discussed in the parliament.
Rehman further said that the country needs unity and solidarity to tackle the challenges, and the policy of confrontation must not be adopted. The 134th birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal was observed with traditional zeal and fervour. People hailing from different walks of life, including politicians, educationists, students and others, visited Mazar-e-Iqbal to pay homage to great poet who gave his vision of a separate country for Muslims of the sub-continent.
Allama Iqbal was a Sufi poet for the modern age, who infused a revolutionary spirit in the nation through his poetry. His poetry has been translated in various languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, English, and he is considered a great philosopher all over the world.
