Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on Monday across the division with religious fervour and renewed pledge to work for national solidarity, integrity and prosperity. Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated in commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim's (AS) readiness to sacrifice his son Prophet Isma'il (AS) to please Allah Almighty.
Hundreds of thousands of believers will go to mosques, imambargahs and Eidgahs to offer prayers at over 800 places in different parts of the four districts. The biggest congregation in the industrial city will be held at Dhobi Ghatt Ground, Jamia Rizvia Jhang Bazar and Imam Bargah Hussainpura.
Meanwhile, DCO, Naseem Sadiq has cancelled Eid-ul-Azha holidays of the officers and officials of the concerned city district government departments to ensure effective implementation of Eid plan for the relief of general public. He directed TMAs, Wasa, health, municipal services, Rescue 1122, civil defence, livestock, environment, community development and other department officials to understand their responsibilities for performing duties on Eid-ul-Azha holidays. He warned that no excuse and negligence from duty would be tolerated.
Expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements at cattle markets of sacrificial animals, he directed that the proper monitoring of the arrangements should be continued at these markets. He directed TMAs to pay surprise visits to check the arrangements in these markets and inspection note should be put on the register.
The DCO stressed upon proper traffic management near the cattle markets and said that reflecting direction boards should also be displayed to guide the vehicle drivers regarding the alternate routes. He directed that security of Eid congregations should be ensured and walkthrough gates should be ready in this regard. He also directed cleanliness and sprinkling of water on the sites of Eid congregations. He advised that the emergency services in the hospitals should be kept ready besides activating the District Control Room on the eve of Eidul Azha.
The DCO also directed PHA officers to maintain the public parks for the recreation of citizens during the Eid holidays and certificates should also be got from the management of Sindbad, Funland, Fun World and other centres regarding the technical durability of children swings and other machinery. He said that the Eid plan should also be implemented in letter and spirit at the 'tehsil' and town level.
He informed that the security and administrative arrangements regarding Eidul Azha have been completed and 12 sale points are working in the district for the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals.
