Newly appointed President of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Southern Punjab, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, vowed to strengthen the party in this part of country. Talking to Pakistan Television, he said that PPP would have better results in future in the Southern Punjab. He thanked the President for reposing confidence in him and appointed him president of PPP for the Southern Punjab.
Replying to a question, he said that President Asif Ali Zardari, was an elected president and holding rallies to derail the democracy would not be successful. To a question regarding Pakistan Tehreek Insaf rally, he said that it is the beginning of Imran Khan in the politics, and "we could not predict anything about him."
He advised the opposition parties to wait for the next elections as PPP is a famous party across the country it will sweep the polls due to its performance in the next elections. Senator Jehangir Badr, Secretary General of PPP said that organising rallies is the beauty of democracy and such rallies would not be harmful for PPP. He urged the youths to come forward for making Pakistan a prosperous state.
He said that youths of the country must focus on education, and better skills and added that they should come forward to play a positive role in the politics of the country. Replying to a question regarding Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leadership's language against the President, he said that it was against the political tolerance. Qamar Zaman Kaira, senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party said: "We will welcome any party for further strengthening democracy and its institutions." He said that Election Commission of Pakistan is making all out efforts to hold the next elections in fair, free, and transparent manner. To a question, he said that political system should be continued in a proper and democratic manner.
