Sindh Rangers on Thursday detained two of its officials, who were reportedly involved in motorcycle snatching and selling the same in other parts of the country. Sources said that the action was taken on the information of a car lifter, whose name was not being disclosed.
They said the detained person, who was arrested by Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) from Saddar area, revealed during initial investigation that two Rangers personnel were also involved in motorcycle lifting. Acting on the said information, Sindh Rangers initiated inquiry against its officials, they maintained.
When contacted, SP ACLC Javeed Akbar Riyaz confirmed that two Rangers' personnel namely Fateh Sheikh and Abdur Razzaq were detained by Sindh Rangers in this connection. He said the accused have not been handed over to ACLC, as Sindh Rangers was interrogating them. He said the arrests were made on the information of detained lifter, who was arrested from Saddar area.
Meanwhile, Sindh Rangers in a statement said the ACLC did not arrest any Rangers' official but nabbed a civilian. It said this detained civilian during investigation disclosed the involvement of some rangers' personnel in this illicit activity. The statement further said the departmental inquiry was initiated to take the responsible to task.
