Mixed sentiments prevail on LSE

Mixed sentiments prevailed on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) on Thursday where equities moved both ways and finally ended in green zone amid marginally increased trading turnover. The LSE-25 index was slightly improved by 1.19 points and was closed at 3150.01 against 3148.82 of Wednesday while transaction volume was increased to 1.726 million shares as compared to 1.379 million shares traded a day earlier.
The market was opened on mixed note and kept on moving up and down during the day's trading. However, at the end of trading it stayed in positive zone because of fresh buying in Engro Corporation, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, PPL, OGDC, Attock Refinery, PSO, MCB Bank, DG Khan Cement, NetSol Technologies, and Arif Habib Corporation.
However, Fatima Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser, Nishat Chunian, Pace Pakistan, Wateen Telecom, Faysal Bank, Bank of Punjab, Fauji Cement, Dewan Salman Fibre and Byco Petroleum witnessed profit taking and ended in negative column. The gainers were more than the losers. Of 98 active issues, 21 companies posted gains, 14 registered losses while 63 companies were closed without any change in their values.
Engro Corporation gained Rs 6.21, PPL was appreciated by Rs 3.50, OGDC was improved by Rs 3.28, while Attock Refinery was up by Rs 1.60. Fatima Fertiliser lost Rs 1.04, Nishat Chunian was declined by 50-paisa, Fauji Fertiliser was depreciated by 48-paisa while Pace Pakistan was down by 13-paisa. Fatima Fertiliser with trading of 364,246 shares topped the volume leaders while Wateen Telecom stayed as runner up with 186,394 shares.
