Three target killers among 10 arrested

Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Monday claimed to have arrested over 10 suspects including three alleged target killers in separate raids at various parts of the metropolis. According to police sources, Landhi police have nabbed an alleged target killer, who was identified as Hassan Dilawar, son of Kausar.
They said the accused person, who belonged to one of the political parties, was arrested on a tipoff when he was trying to escape abroad and recovered one Kalashnikov, repeater and foreign currency from his possession. They said the accused was also involved in an armed clash sparked between three political parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi and Awami National Party at Landhi 89 that claimed over 10 lives. Apart from Landhi 89 incident, the accused targeted several persons at Zaman Town, Korangi Industrial Area, Sharafi Goth, Landhi and Ferozabad.
Separately, Shah Latif police also claimed to have arrested a political worker, who was nominated in over a dozen cases of target killings. The accused person, who was identified as Maqbool Ahmed alias Maqbola, son of Ali Hassan, was arrested from Quaidabad after brief encounter. The accused was also nominated in various cases registered at Shah Latif Town, Malir City and Khokhrapar police stations. In another raid, Crime Branch department had arrested five suspects including Zia ullah, Irfan, Asif, Omar and Siddiq at a raid in Jackson police remits and recovered a dozen of vehicles from their possessions.
An alleged member of the Lyari gangster was taken into custody during a raid at Khadda market, Lyari. Sources said that the raid was conducted by Rangers. The accused was said to be a close aide of Lyari's notorious gangster Taj alias Taju. He was shifted to undisclosed location for further investigation. Meanwhile, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have arrested two men who were allegedly involved in money laundering. The suspects were identified as Laxman Das and Babu Lal. FIR No 12/11 was registered against them.
