Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah has urged the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to work for the welfare of the masses of the province. Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), Syed Mehdi Shah said that holding rallies in the provincial capital against the sitting elected government would not help resolve the common man issues.
He said that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) government is making all out efforts to develop the areas which were neglected in the past. He said that PPP always struggled for the rights of the poor segment of the society.
The Chief Minister said that founder leader of PPP Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto sacrificed his life for democracy and rights of the poor masses.
The CM Gilgit-Baltistan said that credit goes to PPP leaders who empowered the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) people, initiating power projects and other development works in the area.
Replying to a question, he said that Asif Ali Zardari is the symbol of the federation.
Syed Mehdi Shah said that PPP has deep roots in all the provinces of Pakistan including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Criticising the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for using official machinery to make the Lahore rally a success, he said the language used by Shahbaz Sharif was against the democratic norms and ethics of the Parliament. He said that PPP leaders and workers following the mission of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto will continue efforts for the welfare and rights of the poor people.
He said that PPP will also continue the approach of reconciliation with all the parties in the larger interest of the people of this country.
