Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Asif Yasin Malik in a surprise visit welcomed home 6,500 internally displaced families in Kotkai Sector well before the forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha and assured them all out support for their relief and rehabilitation in the area.
He was talking to a grand 'jirga', attended by the elders and officials of the political administration, soon after the arrival in the Kotkai sector of South Waziristan Agency.
He said, "I welcome you all back home well before the Eid-ul-Azha and the Eid would be special for all of you that this celebration would be at your home town after three-year of displacement due to operation against insurgency and militancy." He said, "I was a bit worried while taking the command but with the grace of Almighty Allah, 6,500 families have been rehabilitated to their homes and soon the remaining IDPs would join you owing to the Pakistan Army, who fought militants out from South Waziristan," a jubilant general said.
Flanked by General Command Officer, Major General, Asim Bajwa and Political Agent Javed Marwat, APA Hamidullah Khan, General Yasin said it seems so hard to be away from home besides other hardships to them in the IDPs camp. But the government and the army are aware of their problems and striving for a speedy solution. "I rest assure you that all resources would be utilised to provide basic amenities of life like healthcare, education to their children, clean drinking water facilities, electricity and above all steps for adopting self-sustainability," he explained.
