Shanghai copper gains

Shanghai copper rose on Friday, with prices headed for their biggest weekly gain in more than five years, after US economic growth accelerated and eurozone leaders unveiled a plan to prevent the two-year-old debt crisis from spreading. The most-active January Shanghai copper rose 2.1 percent to 59,250 yuan a tonne by 0712 GMT after jumping by its daily limit of 6 percent earlier in the session.
Prices climbed for a sixth straight session, bringing the weekly gain to about 15 percent - the most since May 2006.
