This is an historical day for Azad Kashmir as well s the freedom struggle of the people of occupied Kashmir. Kashmiri people and its leadership crossed an important milestone of independence of Kashmir on 24 October, 1947. This day demands the reiteration of same determination and spirit from us that we continue to show to the world from the last 63 years.
Today, while celebrating this day with pride and joy, we cannot forget the sacrifices of thousands of Kashmiris who are engaged in an armed conflict against Indian oppression. We, along with our resources and support, stand firm with our dear brothers and sisters who aspire to achieve liberty one day.
People of Azad Kashmir, keeping in view their social, cultural and religious association with Pakistan decided to accede to Pakistan and got independence from Dogra rule. From that time on wards Azad Kashmir serves as a base camp for the freedom struggle and Pakistani government and people are with Kashmiris in this quest. Pakistan's political, ethical and diplomatic support to our just cause is an asset for us. Today, Kashmir is recognised as a dispute and hurdle for International peace. India should show some flexibility in its stance over Kashmir and the conflict should be solved through dialogue keeping in view the hopes and aspirations of Kashmiri people by giving them a right to plebiscite and respect their decision.
Kashmiris want accession to Pakistan. They are waiting for the dawn of independence from the last many years. Today, I pay tribute to the martyrs and salute their spirit and reaffirm our support to the cause they are laying their lives for. This day reminds us of our political and religious figures whose efforts brought freedom to the State. It is the result of their untiring support that we stand by our Kashmiri brothers. Right to self determination for Kashmiris is inevitable for the peace and stability in South Asia. The movement for freedom and independence cannot be suppressed by the cruelties and human rights violations of Indian forces.
