Uplift schemes: 'work being carried out in consultations with locals'

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance, Engineer Mohammad Hamayun Khan has said that development work in PK-99, Malakand Agency is being carried out in consultation with local people and members of the development committees.
Addressing a meeting of the elders of Totakan and its adjacent areas here on Sunday in Wapda Rest House, he directed the party workers to constitute development committees and re-organise to complete these development schemes under their supervision.
The provincial minister said that in the coming annual budget, special funds would be sanctioned for the installation of hand pumps in the backward areas of Malakand Agency including Totakhan, Pirkhel and other adjacent areas.
He said water coolers along with stabilisers would be installed in schools, hospitals and mosques. He said that funds have been approved for the construction of protection walls and construction of water channels in the flood affected areas. In this regard, he said the department of irrigation is carrying survey and work on the rehabilitation projects will start soon. He assured that the shortage of doctors in the hospital of Totakan would be filled soon.
The provincial minister said that the incident of terrorism and unpleasant situation have created a log of problems in Malakand, which also include the damages to the infrastructure.
Mushtaq Ahmad Usmani, Haji Abdul Kabir Khan, Malik Rehmanuddin and Haji Sher Afzal were also spoke on the occasion.
The speakers expressed satisfaction over the development schemes carried out in PK-99 so far and appreciated the efforts of the finance minister, saying that the construction of the Batkhela-Totakan Road, flood protection walls, electrification schemes, establishment of degree college in Totakan and other schemes are the ample proof of the efforts of the minister.
