The Central Council of Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Pakistan (IEEEP), met under its President Engr Tahir Basharat Cheema here on Sunday to finalise the holding of a national conference on electric power deficit. The conference is being held on 29th October 2011 at University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, where eminent speakers would present their papers.
The conference is aimed at supporting the government in its endeavours to overcome the power crisis.
The papers would be on the subjects of Reservoirs in the National Economy, Hydrocarbon and LNG Route, Coal Power Generation, Hydro Power Short-Term and Medium-Term Solutions, Large Hydropower Projects, Genocide on the Indus and the Hydro Bomb, Hydrocarbon Scenario in the Short-Term, Solar Thermal and Geo Thermal solutions, Coal Gasification, Initiatives of the GoP in the RE Sector, RE as part of the Energy Mix, Plans for Nuclear Power, Engineering Management, Power Demand Projection, Issues and impediments in Thar Coal development, and Thermal Fuel Mix etc.
The speakers include Engr Ahmad Khan Bhatti, Engr Munawar Baseer Ahmad, Engr Akhtar Ali, Engr Suleman Najib Khan, Engr Arif Alauddin, Engr Khalid Mansoor and Engr Shahid Aslam. Government officials from the MoF, MoWP, PAEC, MoP&NR and the Planning Commission would also participate in the conference. About 400 delegates from all over Pakistan and abroad have also confirmed their participation.
