The Karachi Port handled 63,692 tonnes of cargo comprising 43,592 tonnes of import cargo and 20,100 tonnes of export cargo including 2,559 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 43,592 tonnes comprised of 15,931 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,953 tonne of general cargo; 1,316 tonnes of bulk cargo: 644 tonnes of wheat; 672 tonnes of soyabean meal and 19,392 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,100 tonnes comprised of 10,065 tonnes of containerised cargo; 81 tonnes of general cargo; 4,954 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,600 tonnes of talcum powder; 2,354 tonnes of cement and 5,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships namely Hyundai Confidence, Lahore Express, Uru Bhum, Pataliputra and Stellahamal carrying three container ships, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz Uru Bhum, Emirates Marina, Dai Dunng Queen, Fade-1 and Ginga Marlin carrying two container ships, two bulk cargo ships and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely Dlace, Navig-8 Spirit, Ginga Marlin and BSLE Pacific carrying three oil tankers and one talcum powder carrier respectively expected to sail on Friday. Four container vessels viz Kota Anggerik, APL Guangzhou, YM Fuzhou and YM South due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz OEL Shreyas, MOL Bravery, Oriental Acacia and MT Lahore carrying two container ships, one ethanol carrier and one crude oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 70,804 tonnes includes 28,520 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,000 tonnes of palm oil; 2,255 tonnes of seeds and 37,029 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 33,199 tonnes includes 3,393 tonnes of rice; 2,735 tonnes of cement and 27,071 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Six ships namely CV Nysted Maersk, CV Pisti, CV Mare Atlanticum, MV Silver Star, MV Lord Byron and MT SC Shenzhen sailed out to sea on Friday morning. A total number of eight vessels CV Nysted Maersk, CV Pisti, CV Mare Atlanticum, MV Amira Dino, MV Silver Star, MV Lord Byron, MT SC Shenzhen and MT Olympic Serenity are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, sunflower seeds, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Two ships namely Gas Elixir and Alaska-II with LPG and cement respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two vessels viz CV MSC Anafi and MT Gas Elixir carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday. As many as three container ships namely CV Henry, CV Elbe Trader and CV Maersk Kentucky are due to arrive at Port Qasim.
