KCCI urges Sindh Assembly to legislate role of business, industrial community

President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mian Abrar Ahmed has suggested that business and industrial community role should be defined in the legislative process and likewise a bill should be passed in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh so that the business and industrial community be taken on board on important provincial affairs.
In a communication to Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Syeda Shehla Raza, he expressed his belief that taking the business and industrial community on board is very vital and imperative because due to the implications of 18th Amendment several laws and acts will be amended and also there will be a need for new legislation. He said that there will be a policy shift to provinces and Federal policies will become redundant. He said that the National Assembly and Senate's standing committees frequently invite the leadership and office bearers in their meeting for their input, hence he urged the government to invite Chamber in there important standing committees meeting of Provincial Assembly.
He noted that the 18th Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan has ushered in a new ear in there political, governance and development realm .by introduction political, administrative and financial devolution, the 18th Amendment not only puts long -voiced demand but also provides the basis for a new development model and for more empowered citizens.
He said after 18th Amendment to the Constitution of the country, the federation has transferred various subjects and jurisdictions like board of revenues, excise and taxation, health, education, law and order, labour and HR, local govt. law and parliamentary affairs, etc, to the provinces and added that he would make known the relevant deadliest in order to provide the Chamber input and proposals accordingly. He pointed out that the Chamber provides its input on draft law on provincial taxes and the leadership and office bearers also attended the budget session in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.
