Mass marriages program of 72 couples was organised by Madina Foundation at the University of Faisalabad here on Friday. Saeed Adam, Chief Khadim of Hujra-tun-Nabvi (SAW), Madina-tul-Munawara, was chief guest while Lieutenant General (Retd) Khalid Maqbool, former Governor of Punjab, presided over the function.
The ceremony started with recitation from Holy Quran, followed by Naat-e-Rasool Maqbool (SAW). Saeed Adam prayed fervently for the newly-wed couples. The expenditure of the marriage of the 72 orphan and deserving girls from Faisalabad and neighbouring areas was borne by Madina Foundation. The couples were given dowry, and more than 3000 guests were served with meals. From the Women Foundation of the University (TUF) the brides were presented gifts.
In his address, Khalid Maqbool lauded the services of Madina Foundation in this noble cause. He also appreciated the efforts of students of the University. Muhammad Hanif, Chairman of the Board of Governors of TUF, Muhammad Rasheed, Vice Chairman Dr Abdul Karim Baloch Pro-Rector and Faculty members were also present on the occasion.
