At-least three persons including a woman were killed in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis, here on Friday. According to police, 30-year-old Devanand, after the death of his wife namely Paro some three days ago, claimed his life through acid.
They said the incident took place at KMC Compound located in solider Bazar where Devanand drunk acid on the demise of his wife. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where he took his last breath. They said the victim, who also tried to jump from the rooftop of the building, had been bonded in freewill marriage with Paro some three years ago. They said the deceased Paro, who died because of illness, was the mother of three.
Yet another couple was immolated to the menace of honour killing in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station on Friday. Police said the accused Fayaz and Riyaz forayed into the house of Haji Muhammad and killed his daughter Laila, 25 and his son-in-law Azhar, 28 by attacking them with axes and bullets. They said the victim Laila succumbed to her wounds on the spot while Azhar was admitted in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in critical condition. They said the victim Laila, who had earlier engaged with the accused Fayaz, eloped with Azhar some 12 months ago.
The victims, after settling domestic disputes, were invited by Haji Muhammad at his house where they were caught by the accused Fayaz and Riyaz. They said the accused Fayaz and Riyaz, who were siblings, escaped from the scene after committing the heinous crime. Moreover, they said the deceased Laila belonged to Jagirani tribe and hailed from Larkana while his husband Azhar was Laghari and hailed from Dera Ghazi Khan. No case of the incident was registered till filing of this report.
