More staff to stop theft of medicines

The logistic support and additional staffs will be rendered to the Drug Inspectors (DI) for gearing up the ongoing campaign against pilferage of medicines from government hospitals, preparation and sale of substandard drugs.
It was decided by the Punjab chief minister in a meeting to constitute a committee for investigation the pilferage of medicines from government hospitals and spurious drug cases here on Sunday. MPA Khawaja Salman Rafique, a convenor of the committee, chaired the meeting which was attended by Special Secretary Health Dawood Muhammad Khan Bareach, DIG Major (R) Mubasharullah, Add. Secretary Technical Dr. Muhammad Mohsin, Chief Drug Inspector Moazzam Khan and Drug Inspector Ravi Town Wahab. The committee brought on a list of useable government drugs worth hundred of thousands of rupees, lying in the office of EDO Health Lahore as case property would be prepared, which would be utilised in hospitals after obtaining permission from the concerned court and getting a test report from the drug testing laboratory to avoid the loss of millions of rupees to the nation.
