Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has made training for the eradication of the dengue virus and treatment of patients compulsory for doctors of private and trust hospitals and issued instructions for evolving a training programme.
He was addressing a meeting to review the dengue situation in the province and measures for the eradication of the virus here on Sunday. Elected representatives, the chief secretary, secretaries of various departments and experts were also present.
He said private hospitals would bear training expenses whereas the government would extend co-operation to doctors of trust hospitals in this regard. The chief minister said all hospitals and departments would be duty-bound to furnish a certificate regarding non-existence of dengue mosquito in their premises. He said larvae of dengue mosquito had also been found in graveyards, therefore, public awareness was being created and effective measures should be taken for its eradication.
