Futures open interest up by 3.4 percent

The total open interest position at the futures counter increased by 3.4 percent during the week ended on October 15, 2011 to Rs 1.87 billion. On the other hand, the futures spreads also increased by 20bps on week-on-week basis to 9.12 percent. Trading at the futures counter improved and the average daily volume surged to 10 million shares, or 58 percent.
The top 5 scrips at the futures counter, holding 55 percent of total open interest, remained Engro, Hubco, FFBL, and POL, while FFC replaced Lucky Cement.
