For the third time in a row, Pakistan players have been snubbed by Indian Premier League, which means there will be no Pakistani cricketers in next season of T20 league. IPL's newly appointed chairman Rajiv Shukla, who had earlier said it would be up to the franchises to take a decision on Pakistan players whether to buy them or not, Friday said: "Pakistan players issue was not even in the agenda. So there is no question of discussion."
Another important decision that IPL Governing Council took is that there will be nine teams participating in 2012 after Kochi franchise was expelled from the league last month. This means there will be a new format of IPL and is likely to go back to its home and away format and number of matches will increase. Kochi players S Sreesanth, Mahela Jayawardene, Muttiah Muralidharan & VVS Laxman may be up for auction.
However, IPL GC said: "player regulation and trading modalities will be discussed at next GC meeting." Shukla said no decision has been taken on Kochi players and management asked to work out possible options. He assured interest of players will be protected. IPL 2012 dates were also confirmed. Tournament begins in Chennai on 4 April 2012 and end on 27 May 2012.
