Karachi University: computer laboratory for visually impaired students being established
A computer lab for visually impaired students of the University of Karachi (KU) is being established at the Department of Library and Information Science. The lab is equipped with the latest special software for blind ie Jaws 2 and Open Book as well as audio equipment to make it accessible for these students.
All blind students of the university now can use this lab on their own convenient timing besides guidance and training to also be provided by the department to visually impaired students. Students of the varsity applauded the establishment of the library, saying the lab is indeed is very much needed as the computer and especially online searching. "We are thankful to the department that it has provided us this facility but also give us training and guidance how to use it. Now we are able to compete even on the use of computer in our studies with our fellow students", they said.
