Eight injured in Lyari grenade attack

As many as eight persons including two police officials on Friday sustained injuries when two unidentified men, riding on a bike, threw grenade at Jalali Snooker Club located at Tannery road, Bihar Colony in Chakiwara police remits, said police and rescue sources.
Following the blast, the law enforcement agencies, rescuers of various welfare organisations and other concerned agencies rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Civil and Lyari General hospitals. Sources in the hospitals said that five injured persons were brought to civil hospital while remaining three wounded persons were taken to Lyari General hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, unknown culprits threw a grenade at Snooker club, which was run by CID official Amjad son of Nasrullah, and he managed to flee from the scene. Police said that investigation is presently underway while the experts of BDS were examining the spot. They further said the injured were identified as Amjad, 42, Ghulam Mustafa, 40, policeman Bahadur Khan 27, Irfan, 10, Abdul Sattar, Azhar and Balam.
Police further said the Snooker Club was owned by victim Amjad, who was CID official and also a brother of PSF General Secretary Bashir and added that Baba Ladla group was active in the area where incident took place. IG South Commander Shaukat said that some two unknown riders threw hand grenade at Club, leaving eight persons injured. He added that the rival group of Lyari gangsters might be responsible for the attack but it would be too early to declare anyone responsible as the investigation was underway.
