LSE index gains 18.14 points

Published Updated

Mixed sentiments prevailed on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) on Friday where equities moved both ways on account of investors' cautious approach who picked selected shares on dip and sell on strength ahead of weekend. The LSE-25 index gained 18.14 points and was ended at 3231.92 points against 3213.78 points of Thursday, while transaction volume was marginally declined to 2.574 million shares, as compared to last day volume of 2.782 million shares.
The market was opened on a healthy sign but after staying in green zone during early hour of trading, started sliding due to selling pressure in Engro Corporation, National Bank, Habib Bank, Hub Power, PSO, PPL, Hub Power, Sui Northern, Adamjee Insurance, Engro Food and Lotte Pakistan PTA. As a result, the market stayed in negative zone till the close of first trading session.
However, following buying in Lucky Cement, D.G. Khan Cement, Attock Refinery, Fauji Fertiliser, Fatima Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, MCB Bank, Bank of Punjab, Arif Habib Corporation, Nishat Chunian and Nishat Mills helped market recovery during the second session.
The losers were marginally ahead of the gainers, as out of a total of 121 active issues, 19 companies posted gains, 20 stayed in negative column, while 82 companies stayed glued to their previous closing levels. Nishat Mills gained Rs 2.37, Lucky Cement was improved by Rs 1.97, Attock Refinery was appreciated by Rs 1.67, while Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim was up by Rs 1.40.
In the minus column, Engro Corporation lost Rs 2.24, National Bank was declined by Rs 1.36, while Hub Power, Engro Foods and PSO were down by Rs 1.26, Rs 1.23, and Rs 1.22, respectively. Fatima Fertiliser was the market leader whose 483,963 shares changed hands followed by Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim with 294,526 shares.
