Sindh Assembly session likely on October 20

The Sindh government is likely to call the provincial assembly's session on October 20 to present the much awaited local government bill to reverse the commissioner system law. Sources said on Monday that the Sindh government was expected to announce a notification in this regard during the next three days. The PPP and its coalition partners have agreed to call the session on October 20.
The controversial bill has been prepared in consultation with the ruling political parties in the assembly, according to the sources. The Sindh Local Bodies Ordinance 2001, which the governor Sindh promulgated on August 6 to replace the commissioner system law, now needed a formal nod from the assembly to become a law before November 6. "If this ordinance fails to pass in the assembly before November 6 will lapse and the commissioner system will restore," sources pointed out.
