KARACHI: Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair inaugurated the four-day international media conference being held under the auspices of the Pakistan Media Development Foundation (PMDF).
An official of the Governor House said on Saturday that the inaugural ceremony, held at the Governor House was attended by delegates from United States, China, Canada, Britain, France, Australia, Iran, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Indonesia and some other countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Zubair said that the holding of international events in the metropolis speak of the restoration of law and order in Karachi and the foreign delegates' confidence in the security situation.
He stated that the media conference would prove significant towards fostering a soft image of Pakistan abroad.
When back in their respective countries the delegates of the media conference would inform about the improved law and order as well as the economic, trade and commercial activities.
The Governor pointed out that today's Pakistan was different from that of the year 2013. Now it is peaceful and heading towards the path of development and prosperity.
He said that when the present government came to power in 2013 it was faced with the challenges of law and order and energy crisis.
Zubair remarked the policies pursued by the present government helped towards improving and security situation and overcoming the energy crisis in the country.
He also recalled the services of the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) towards the improvement in the security situation in the country.
Governor said that the holding of the four-day international media conference in the metropolis augurs well and will help foster a positive image of Pakistan as well as the city of Karachi.
He also referred to his recent visits abroad during which road shows were also held to apprise about the improved situation in the country as well as conducive trade and investment opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, United States' Jim Bouwelha, who is treasurer of International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) USA, said that he was pleased to visit Pakistan. There exists perception about Pakistan and especially Karachi in the West which is absolutely different from the ground realities.
He said that the Pakistanis were very hospitable and peaceful people.
Meanwhile, the delegates from abroad also called on Governor Sindh at the Governor House.
Zubair informed them that there was an absolute freedom of press in Pakistan.
He also referred to the key role of journalists towards the cause of democracy and the freedom of the press.
The journalists from abroad informed the Governor that they are happy to visit Pakistan.
