MIRPUR: President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Masood Khan Saturday said constructive efforts will be made to enhance international outreach for raising the profile of the Kashmir issue.

He made these remarks in a meeting with speaker AJK Legislative Assembly who called him here.

During the meeting, they discussed matters of political significance, the latest situation in Indian occupied Kashmir, international issues and various other matters relating to legislation and development.

Masood Khan praised Pakistan’s unified stance against President Trump’s recent anti-Pakistan statement. He said Pakistan’s steadfast viewpoint is a testament to the resolve and commitment of Pakistan’s government, people and armed forces in crushing terrorism in the country.

Pakistan, he said, has been the main victim of the ongoing ‘war on terror’ and has lost thousands of its civilians and armed personnel lives.

It has suffered colossal loses in the shape of local economy and foreign investments.

Lamenting Trump’s statement, Masood Khan said the statement is a direct result of the false narrative spewed by Indian lobbies in United States in order to divert attention from the core issue of Kashmir.

AJK president and the speaker of Legislative Assembly while discussing the latest situation in IoK said the people of IoK are subjected to inconceivable atrocities which constitute war crimes violations of international humanitarian laws.

Everyday unarmed innocent Kashmiris are tortured, harassed and murdered by the Indian occupation forces under the pretense of security measures, the president said.

Under the illegal Armed Forces Special Powers Acts (AFSPA), Indian occupation forces, he said, are engaged in the brutal and unaccountable killings of innocent and unarmed Kashmiris who are peacefully demanding their right to self-determination.

Masood khan said on January 5, people of Pakistan, AJK and across the LoC in Kashmir has unanimously reiterated their determination to continue their peaceful struggle in achieving their unassailable right to a free a fair plebiscite by commemorating the Kashmir Right to Self-Determination Day and demanding the implementation of UN Security Council’s resolutions passed on this day in 1949.

India has started a systematic proxy war in Pakistan to destabilize its cities, regions, and institutions, the president Masood Khan said.

He further said India is abetting and sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan through espionage and was employing ignominious diplomatic maneuvers to demonize Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir issue by advocating the conflict as a bilateral issue.

Both leaders urged unity and staying vigilant of the malicious Indian efforts to create instability in Pakistan.
