City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has launched anti-dengue campaign in city here on Wednesday. The CDGK had already prepared a micro management plan to control the spread of dengue virus, which is being implemented. It has urged Cantonment Boards to carried out spray in their respective areas, asking the hospitals to set up special anti-dengue cell which could be linked with the central anti-dengue cell established in city government Karachi.
CDGK has invited all the stakeholders including government and private organisations to participate in the campaign and it effective so that the campaign could be extended to each and every street and home of Karachi. The special dengue ward established in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital can be contacted on 0800-12012 on 24 hour basis.
DCO Karachi informed the meeting that 90 percent of the patients suffered with dengue virus were kept in observation and platelets were provided to patients if their test proved positive. He said that the dengue virus could only be eliminated through joint efforts, city government will carry on this campaign till November, and therefore all other organisations should include it in their preference.
