The Sindh Minister for Jail Sadiq Ali Memon has recommended Sindh government to declare whole District Thatta as calamity hit area and provide sufficient funds to carryout relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the district.
Talking to media men at Hameedullah Farm on National Highway in between Ongar and Jihrk area, the Sindh Minister said that Sindh Government had declared only 10 union councils of Jati taluka as calamity hit area earlier but after that Thatta district has received multiple heavy rain spells, which caused devastation in the whole district. He said that he has been came here at Ongar and Jihrk area to get first hand information about the devastation caused by hill torrential due to heavy rain which by crossing the National Highway has damaged and forced to block the road.
He said that District Administration, Sindh Irrigation and drainage, management of RBOD and Highway have been engaged to protect the National Highway from hill torrential. Responding a question, the Sindh Minister for Jail Sadiq Ali Memon said that as many as 20 dewatering machines were working round-the-clock to drain out standing rain water from Thatta city area.
