Widespread rains forecast for lower Sindh

The Met office on Saturday said that more widespread heavy to very heavy rains predicted in lower Sindh during the next three days (Sunday evening to Wednesday). It also warned the heavy spells is likely to cause more flooding in the already inundated areas of the province and advised all concerned authorities to remain alert during this period.
"The latest meteorological conditions indicate that another strong monsoon weather system currently lying over central India is heading towards Sindh. Under the influence of this strong weather system more widespread heavy to very heavy rain/thundershowers accompanied with strong gusty winds are expected in Badin (especially 50-60kms east and north-east of Badin/around LBOD), Mirpurkhas, Thar, Umarkot, Thatta, Hyderabad districts including Karachi from Sunday evening to Wednesday", it said.
It said scattered moderate to heavy rain/thundershowers expected elsewhere in Sindh and east Balochistan during the period. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may cause urban/flash flooding in Sindh and eastern Balochistan during the next three days, it adds.
In the weather summery, the met office said seasonal low lies over north-west Balochistan. Monsoon currents are still penetrating in eastern and southern parts of the country. It said that widespread rain/thundershower with isolated heavy falls is expected in Sindh and scattered rain/thundershower is likely to fell in southern Punjab and eastern Balochistan, while isolated rain/thundershower is also expected in Hazara, Rawalpindi divisions and Kashmir.
Sindh and Punjab received rain/thundershower at scattered places while Malakand and Hazara divisions and Kashmir received at isolated places during the last 24 hours. The chief amount of rain recorded as Muzaffarabad 37 mm, Parachinar 32mm, Chorr 28mm, Karachi 24mm, Murree 23 mm, Tando Jam 22 mm, Kamra 14 mm and Badin10 mm, the Met Office says.
During the last 24 hours, rain/thundershower occurred at scattered places of Sindh and Punjab while at isolated places of Malakand and Hazara divisions and Kashmir, according to the forecaster. Karachi weather is likely to be partly cloudy with chances of rain-thundershower during the next 24 hours with the temperature level ranging between 36 degree centigrade and 38 degree centigrade.
