US Plains HRW wheat bids steady

Hard red winter wheat basis bids held steady Thursday in a mostly quiet market. Seeding of the new winter wheat crop was making progress in states like Nebraska, where about 10 percent of the crop was planted, according to the USDA. Planting remained a top concern for producers in Texas, Oklahoma and southern Kansas due to a lack of soil moisture.
Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City slid 2-5 cents a bushel, with declines noted for 11.60- through 14.00 percent protein supplies. Kansas City Board of Trade HRW wheat futures ended lower on Wednesday with the December down 6-1/2 cents at $8.59.
