The Australian dipped more than half a US cent on Thursday as a disappointing jobs report encouraged markets to nudge up the chance of an interest rate cut, while the kiwi held on to its overnight gains. The Aussie fell around 0.5 percent on the yen, euro, Swiss and pound. It dropped to a session low of $1.0571, wiping out part of Tuesday's rally that had seen it gain 1.5 percent. It clawed back to $1.0590 with initial support seen at $1.0550.
The Aussie has lost 1 percent so far this month. The New Zealand dollar held onto its overnight gains and climbed to a session high of $0.8340, from $0.8310 in late NY trade. The Aussie slipped 0.5 percent against the kiwi to NZ$1.2710.
