PBS directed to provide census data to ECP without any delay

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Statistics, Kamran Michael has directed the senior officers of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) to provide the required data of 6th Population and Housing Census to the Election Commission of Pakistan without any delay.

He was chairing a meeting regarding recently concluded population census, which among others was attended by Secretary Statistics and senior officers of the division.

“All the necessary record related to census should be provided to Election Commission of Pakistan,” he directed the officers.

The minister himself observed the process of census data compilation and expressed the hope that on the basis of this data the Election Commission would complete delimitation of constituencies very soon.

It was pertinent to mention here that the country was divided into 163541 blocks to conduct the 6ht Population and Housing Census smoothly. According to provisional results, the population of these blocks was recorded at 207774520.

The population of 21577 blocks of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was recorded at 30523371 individuals, while there was a population of 5001676 in 4098 blocks of FATA.

Similarly, the population in 87006 blocks of Punjab was 110012442 individuals, whereas in 39139 blocks it was recorded 47886051, in 10207 blocks of Balochistan there was population of 12344408 individuals whereas in 1514 blocks of Islamabad, the population consisted of 2006572 individuals.
