PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed for efficient management of Zamung Kor, an institute for state children (street children) adding that the centres were expended to nine districts along with two tribal agencies that included Khyber and Kurram agencies. However, excluding Peshawar and Charsadda, these centres were not fully functional, he added.

He was presiding over a meeting on the Zamung Kor project at Chief Minister House Peshawar. The relevant officials attended the meeting and briefed the Chief Minister about the progress on Zamung Kor.

The Chief Minister directed that these projects should have been functional at divisional level as resources for the purpose had been allocated in order to make state children useful citizens of the society.

He advised against any intra institutional bickering directing to propose amendment in the regulation to bring diversity to the functions of Zamung Kor.

He called upon the officials to work honestly and contribute spirited efforts for the state children. They should ensure quality food and prepare daily reports giving no space for any pilferage.

He constituted a committee comprising Secretaries Social Welfare, Physical Planning and Finance to frame administrative, technical and financial rules and submit him recommendations within ten days in order to extend Zamung Kor to all districts of the province.

He advised to replicate the Shaukat Khanum Trust Model and evolve a transparent mechanism with focus on the growing up and look after of state children. The provincial government has already issued Rs. 400 million for the look after and upbringing up of state children. Chief Minister was also briefed about the donations gathered by Zamung Kor.
