Marvi Memon launches her parliamentary diaries in book form

One of the most outstanding, outspoken and fiery parliamentarian, Marvi Memon's first book 'My Parliamentary Diary' was launched here on Saturday.
Marvi was elected to the National Assembly on PML-Q ticket in March 2008, but resigned her seat in June 2011 when her party decided to join the government, which she and PML-Q had been criticising for its failures in delivering what had been promised to the people, and the deteriorating economic and law and order situation in the country, bad governance and showing disrespect to Supreme Court verdicts.
The book is based on the daily diaries she maintained during her maiden stint as Member of Parliament. During her tenure, she actively participated in the National Assembly proceedings, in the media, on the roads and filing petitions in judiciary furthering the cause of all the discriminated people of Pakistan and on national interest strategic issues.
It is for the first time in the parliamentary history of Pakistan that a parliamentarian has shared a daily diary in the form of a book. The diary would thus be freely accessible to every single Pakistani on the internet and to the world--a diary with daily notes, articles, reports, speeches in the assembly, assembly committee minutes, photos, videos, paintings, etc.
Indeed, it is a historic document of political and archival interest--first time in Pakistan--and a bold step on the part of Marvi, the budding politician who has proved that she practises what she preaches, a quality rarely found in present-day politicians. Instead of sacrificing her principles, she preferred to step down to uphold her stand on issues confronting the nation. Any other politician in her place would have jumped on to the bandwagon to enjoy the perks and benefits of ruling elite.
