Secretary Health Punjab, Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan has charge-sheeted the surgeon doctor Nadeem Anwar of Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Pattoki on the charges of irresponsible attitude in official duties, less number of procedures and active involvement in private practice.
The secretary health was presiding over a meeting to review the performance of district and tehsil headquarters hospitals of Kasur, here Saturday. He took serious notice of the involvement of the doctors of government hospitals in private practice and due to their lack of interest in professional responsibilities, turn over of the patients is very low. Moreover, the percentage of delivery cases in government hospitals is also very poor.
The secretary health directed the medical superintendents to identify doctors, nurses and Lady Health Visitors in monthly report whose performance is not up to the mark otherwise, they will be held responsible for this state of affairs. He also directed that all the vacant posts of medical officers in the department should be sent to Punjab Public Service Commission for recruitment.
He said that instead of contractual appointments, all the posts of gazetted and non-gazetted employees would be filled on regular basis in the department. He directed the DG Health Punjab to send senior officers of director level for the inspection of district and tehsil headquarters hospitals. He said that third party evaluation of government hospitals would also be conducted.
