Senior Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rahim Dad Khan said that international donors like European Union and Japan are intriguing to funds for development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa because the government has ensured the transparency and effective monitoring on utilisation of funds.
He was addressing to the meeting of One UN Refugee Affected and Hosting Area Programme (RAHA) and other projects under Special Development Unit P & D Department. Secretary P & D Department Saleem Khan, Director General SDU and National Project Director RAHA Roohullah Khan, Chief SDU Amir Khattak and Provincial Programme Manager Liaqat Ali Khan attended the meeting.
The Senior Minister was informed that European Union would give fund 25 million Euro to RAHA programme of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa in next four years. In the year 2011-12 European Union has provided Rs 249.327 million to RAHA programme. Provincial Programme Manager informed that RAHA programme had allocated Rs 194.8 million for the construction of small and major infrastructures schemes. RAHA programme has initiated skill development and income generation programme.
This is an important activity of Refugee Affected and Hosting Area programme to facilitate people particularly vulnerable groups in reviving their livelihood by learning skills. Senior Minister Rahim Dad Khan urged that RAHA programme should ensured transparency and merit in the implementation of infrastructures schemes. Neglected and vulnerable people should be given priority in selection of infrastructure and skill training schemes, he asserted.
He said that criteria for selection of individuals for skill trainings should be developed and urged for the establishment of the linkage of RAHA programme with Bank of Khyber for small loans. Provincial Minister said that donors have confidence on government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and feel comfortable in the funds utilisation. Appreciating efforts of RAHA programme Rahim Dad Khan added that RAHA programme team had given good results in the implementation of programme activities in last year.
