The Karachi Port handled 73,985 tonnes of cargo including 40,140 tonnes of import cargo, 33,845 tonnes of export cargo and 4,131 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 40,140 tonnes comprised of 20,999 tonnes of containerised cargo; 379 tonne of general cargo; 10,000 tonnes of bulk cargo: 50 tonnes of DAP; 9,950 tonnes of coal and 8,762 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,192 tonnes comprised of 33,310 tonnes of containerised cargo and 535 tonnes of bulk cargo. Six ships namely Bunga Raya Lapan, Manila Express, Caribbean Sea, Stolt Stream, Deira-1 and Sorrele with three container shipsand three oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Two vessels viz Manila Express and Deira-1 carrying container ship and oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. Four ships namely Kota Anggerik, Nadeem, Fu Yuan Shan and Thor Endeavour carrying container ship, cement carrier, general cargo ship and coal carrier respectively are expected to sail on Saturday. A container vessel viz APL Guangzhou due to arrive on Friday, while three vessels viz MT Lahore, Gunes-K and Samin-1 carrying crude oil tanker, chemicals carrier and container ship respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 46,208 tonnes includes 9,800 tonnes of edible palm oil; 3,656 tonnes of canola seeds; 1,227 tonnes of urea; 7,708 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 23,817 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 33,093 tonnes includes 2,901 tonnes of cement and 30,093 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Four ships namely CV Nicoline Maersk, CV OOCL Kobe, CV CMA CGM Wagner and MT North Contender sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while a container ship namely CV Glory is expected to sail on Friday. A total number of eleven vessels CV Nicoline Maersk, CV OOCL Kobe, CV CMA CGM Wagner, CV Glory, MV Sapphire-II, MV Tycoon-II, MV Afamia, MV Loanthi, MV Gera Simos, MT Grace and MT North Contender are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, urea, canola seeds, palm oil and phosphoric acid respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely New Challenge, Long Champ, MSC Venezuela, Al-Mirqab and Mykines carrying diesel oil, LPG, containers and palm oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz CV MSC Venezuela, CV Al-Mirqab, MV Long Champ and MT Mykines carrying containers, LPG and palm oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. Two container vessels viz CV Libra Ipanaema and CV MSC Roberta are due to arrive on Saturday.
