The Establishment Division has appointed Shafqat Naghmi as Secretary, Board of Investment (BOI), with immediate effect. Shafqat Naghmi was serving as Secretary, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, before devolution of ministries to provinces.
It is learnt that former Secretary Board of Investment (BOI) Anisul Hassnain was transferred as his performance was considered not up to the mark in attracting the foreign direct investment in Pakistan. He has jointed Ministry of Minority Affairs as secretary.
The board has changed its three secretaries during the tenure of Saleem Mandviwalla as Chairman. Mohammad Saleem Khan, who was replaced by Anisul Hassnain, had also been reportedly transferred on the same grounds. Saleem Khan was alleged for not supporting the process of structural changes in the board to make it a one-window facility for foreign investors. Interestingly, the board failed in introducing one-window facility even after the transfer of Saleem Khan to the other ministry. Mohammad Saleem Khan was the successor of Tariq Iqbal Puri.
